About Me
Growing up amidst the natural splendor of the Merrimack River and Plum Island, I was enveloped by the rhythmic dance of nature. My fondest childhood memories are painted with scenes of playful adventures along the riverbank, constructing mud castles, and sculpting willow branches into whimsical forms. Encouraged by my supportive parents, I delved deeper into my passion for art, embarking on a transformative journey under the tutelage of the esteemed artist, Robert J. Gablosky, founder of the Haverhill Art Association.
Under Bob's guidance, I immersed myself in the rich tapestry of colors and the traditional wet-on-wet technique of oil painting, honing my craft with each stroke of the brush. Securing an art scholarship from the Newburyport Art Association was a pivotal moment, propelling me towards further academic pursuits at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, where I earned a BFA in painting and printmaking.
During my formative years at Montserrat, I not only refined my signature palette and expressive painting style but also continued to seek wisdom from Bob, whose mentorship remains invaluable to this day. I owe a debt of gratitude to Bob for instilling in me a profound love for art and for his boundless generosity of spirit.
My artistic vision is enriched by a diverse array of influences, ranging from the luminous landscapes of American masters such as Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, and Winslow Homer, to the evocative works of Edward Hopper and Brian Rutenberg. Drawing inspiration from Romantic British painters like Joseph Turner and John Constable, I weave together elements of tradition and innovation to create a distinctive aesthetic.
Describing my art as Contemporary New England Abstract Impressionism, I embrace versatility in mediums and substrates, including oil on copper, aluminum, wood, and linen. While much of my creative process unfolds within the sanctuary of my studio, I find solace and inspiration in plein-air sketching, immersing myself in the untamed beauty of nature.
Guided by intuition, my artistic journey is marked by fluidity, with colors evolving harmoniously with the changing seasons. Nestled within my studio in Lowell, MA, I welcome art enthusiasts and curious minds alike to explore my world during the Western Avenue Open Studios held every first Saturday of the month, inviting them to witness the fusion of passion and creativity that defines my artistic expression.
